My Holy Grail Drugstore Foundations
14:11hi girlies!
Sorry for disappearing for a while - I've been very busy but I'm finally back with another foundation review blog post for you guys.
Rimmel Match Perfection Light Perfecting Radiance Foundation & L'Oréal Paris Lumi Magique Light Infusing Foundation.
Brands claim -
Rimmel
L'Oréal
Overview - These two foundations are my all time favourite, go-to foundations which I have been using since I first began makeup. I use them almost daily, and usually go back to them after trying a new foundation. I especially reach for these when my skin is dry. The Rimmel Match Perfection Light Perfecting Radiance Foundation claims to last all day, give flawless skin under any lighting and give an illuminating glow. The L'Oréal Paris Lumi Magique Light Infusing Foundation claims to give you flawless skin, with perfect coverage without masking, and illuminates your complexion as if lit from within. They both have pumps which make them easy to use and both provide you with SPF18.
Swatches -

Undertones -
200 - soft beige - cool, rosy pink/neutral undertone
D/W3 - gold linen - warm, golden undertone
Skin-type & Finish - My favourite aspect of these foundations if how well suited they are to my dry skin, and I mostly reach for these foundations when my skin is feeling dry as they both provide a dewy look and do not cling to any dry spots, instead makes my face look moisturised and healthy rather than dry. The Rimmel foundation gives you a satin-dewy finish depending on how you prep your skin. You can use the foundation if you have dry/normal skin, however if you have oily skin I would suggest using a good powder to set the face. The L'Oréal Paris foundation gives you a dewy finish, and I agree with the brands claim, as it provides instant radiance, gives you a lit from within look, leaving your skin looking very glowy, healthy and hydrated. It is perfect for dry/normal skin but I would avoid it if you have very oily skin. Both foundations claim to give you illuminated skin, this is definitely true. If you prefer matte foundations, these are a no-go for you, or you can use a good powder to give the foundations more of a matte finish.
L'Oréal Paris - Glowy, radiant, illuminated lit from within skin
Coverage - I use these foundations on a daily basis and they both provide a medium coverage. However I found that if you'd like a buildable higher coverage without it looking cakey, applying one layer, letting it set, and then applying another layer gave more coverage. The foundations give you a flawless even skin tone and covers most imperfections, however like most drugstore foundations, larger imperfections did come through a little.
The Feel -
Both foundations feel lightweight and skin like, however if worn all day in hot conditions they can start to feel a little greasy and heavy, so their best worn in a cooler environment, and when the skin is drier.
The Range - The Rimmel foundation has 12 shades whereas the L'Oréal Paris foundation only provides 6 shades. Even though the Rimmel foundation has a wide shade range, and caters to all light, medium and dark skin, I feel there are more cool and neutral undertones than warm undertones. Therefore I found it difficult to find a shade for my warm undertone skin, and so I am left with a pinky skin tone, which is one of the only downsides to this foundation. If you have a cool undertone, this foundation would be more suited to you. On the other hand, the L'Oréal Paris foundation gives me a slightly orangey golden look, so it may be difficult to find a shade that matches you if you have a cool undertone. Both foundations are a little dark for me, as seen in the swatches, however I still love the tanned look it gives you, but do remember to blend down your neck lool.
Duration - I usually keep my foundation on for around 10 hours during the day, and both foundations seem to last well when I keep them on for this period. However, as mentioned before, if you wear them all day in hot conditions they do start to feel heavy and greasy on the skin. The Rimmel foundation claims to last all day, and I would agree with this. However towards the end of the day, the foundation does start to wear off around my T-zone, as with most foundations.
Overall - I am just in love, and always have been in love, with these two foundations. They are my holy grail makeup products which I have been using ever since I started makeup, and have seen the most use out of my whole foundation collection. They would also be perfect for beginners as the texture is so easy to blend and the foundation is very easy to use, and they are both wallet friendly and affordable. I would definitely recommend these to anyone looking for a good quality budget drugstore foundation.
